The annual feast caps off a weekend-long retreat we hold for ourselves and folks we collaborate with. During the retreat we reflect on the last year and make plans for the coming one as an organization. Then the feast is a chance to invite a broader circle of folks into that space, cook them a big meal and thank them for being the community that makes this place possible

This year we had 35 RSVPs until the 48 hours before the feast when the RSVPs suddenly about doubled. Cooking for that many people with one kitchen the size of an armpit and the other fresh from under construction was a minor circus, and we were baking chickens in an old oven in the backyard hooked up to a BBQ tank. We pulled it off only thanks to the crew of volunteers rolling with the mayhem and bringing everything to life

This year’s feast collected donations for Stone Soup, a volunteer-run, pay-what-you-can café in Greenfield doing a lot of heavy lifting in the wake of cuts to SNAP benefits. Learn about their work and support it through the link in the bi0
