09 Jun Photos: Design Round-up
Andrew here. Also sometimes “Coordinator”, meant to put a name to the nameless hats I’ve worn throughout the project. In the early years, before we broke out work the way we do now, I did a little of everything—whatever was needed. These days I can be more focused, collaborating with others in their position work where I can be most useful, and developing processes and systems to help us all get where we want to goo.
For example, my current plate has on it formalizing artist residencies at Lupinewood, which includes research, developing an application process, working out budgets, setting up spaces, and workshopping the results with the group until we all feel good about it. I’m also just finishing writing and compiling a packet of documents we can use to recruit new collective members in the coming year and the maps and other documents to develop how we host events at Lupinewood.
One through-line in my position has been design: of spaces, of flyers and posters, of systems for us to manage things collectively, of events. I love design, if such a broad use of the term means something specific enough to feel deeply about. Some of what I’ve designed is a little hard to share here on a screen, but some of it isn’t: here are a few favorites from history
