14 Oct Photos: Coming Out Party
Scavenger hunt was attempted and aborted by many, but 3 intrepid children made it to the end and earned themselves a prize. Folks pulled their own prints at Paper Ghost, and at EAM, made sounds into handmade contraptions that let you record your voice and play with it like putty. One sweet older woman recorded a sudden blood-curdling scream that silenced the room and then cheerfully went about her business. Alyssa Kai and the Dead Girls started things off right, Myk Freedman and Jesse Olson Bay slayed, Harm’s solo set closed out the night. Babies and toddlers ran amok, opening and abandoning seltzers. Unlikely friendships were struck in real time.
It’s a weird time to be launching a nonprofit, so thanks for coming out and being weird. Thanks for making that party so special, and thanks to the folks who’ve started scheming about Start Something and the community projects they want to put into the world.
